You probably think I'm going to say something like it's All 'Bout Coffee, huh?! Well not exactly. Like any, and all, Self Care Experts, we know that adaptability is the name of the game. So not all mornings are the same, but no matter how relaxed or crazy each morning is, these are my ABC's!
If you set yourself for sleep success, then this is no problem. In order to do that, think about these three things.
Have you ever looked at your tongue? Like really looked at your tongue? If not, do so now. The coating on your tongue, whether it's white, yellow, or pinkish is called ama, or toxins in sanskrit, and is a direct reflection of the gunk in your body. Get yourself a tongue scraper and get rid of that shit. According to the Chopra Center, the benefits of tongue scraping range from stimulating the internal organs, to increasing your sense of taste, to increasing clarity of mind.
In every single retreat or workshop that I lead, tongue scraping is bound to come up as a recommendation for a morning habit. I even ran into someone earlier this week while walking around my neighborhood who took a workshop with me in the spring. She mentioned that she loves her tongue scraper and everyone in her family has one too! The ripple effect on tongue scraping is happening and you won't want to miss out.
Maybe it's your couch cushion. Or your bed pillow. Or even a meditation cushion. Sit on it. Set a timer. For one minute. Or two. Or twenty. Try and be still.
The first 5 minutes are the hardest to do nothing. But just like running the first mile of a 1/2 marathon, it gets easier after that. Your body knows what to do, which is nothing. Watch your breathing slow down. And the awareness of who you are deep down inside start to shine, regardless of your Ta-Da list, or the garbage truck passing by, or your numb foot.
You are brilliant! You are Radiant! When is the last time you felt that? Maybe it'll be tomorrow morning after you practice your ABC's?!
I am on the journey to create joy and live with full happiness. And my wish for you is to do the same!
