To keep going with the theme of the ABC's of my daily routines, I wanted to get down and dirty about the mid mornings. This is a time in my day that I am usually most productive. I try to get the most important items on my my TA-DA list done during this time. Take me writing this blog, for example. It is 9:50am on a Thursday morning. I have time blocked out on my calendar from 10-11am to write this post, but I started early. Today is a good day! Please know that it doesn't always happen that way. For me writing my weekly blog posts are important, not only for my business, but also for me to connect with you. I get to express what's pressing for me, how I'm working hard to develop a method that leaves you inspired to thrive, and to be creative. My being is content this morning. How about you?
The following are three ways that I keep my mid morning energized and joyful.
The effect of natural light on your body clock, productivity, and energy is something that I can talk about all day long, however in order for you to believe me, I suggest you try getting outside for yourself. Mid morning is a great time to walk to the coffee shop on the next block or stand in your yard for 5 minutes, if you work from home like me. Your melatonin production stops at the sight of daylight, eliminating grogginess and low energy. The break from your desk increases motivation and productivity when you return. Having lots of natural light in your work space helps, however you'll want to feel 360 degrees of light on your body to get the greatest benefits.
How many of you feel controlled by your inbox? It causes chaos, clutter, and confusion when you feel out of control, doesn't it?
Below are a few steps that I have adopted to manage my email more mindfully. Try them on for size to see if they help you too.
After I'm done writing this blog, I'm going to take a 10 minute break to step outside, feel the cool, wetness of the rain, and get away from my computer. That is because I have spent the last 50 minutes focused on this one task of writing. I haven't been distracted by email notifications or IM messages or anyone interrupting me. Again, today has been a good day. Not all days go this way. When you need to hunker down and get shit done, use the Pomodoro Technique. It's simple, I promise!
Ideas like these are always easier said than done, I know this. But try them today and see what happens.
Yours in Infinite Health,
I am on the journey to create joy and live with full happiness. And my wish for you is to do the same!
