Back in January of this year, I began to create what has now become a reality. It all started with a simple email, putting myself out there and taking a risk to combine two of my most favorite communities - Yoga & Electronic Music! In February, Yoga UniQue was born as a monthly event that took yoga out of a traditional studio and into a nightclub. Yes, I know, these are two energetic spaces that you wouldn't necessarily bring together. However it brought around 70 people to their mats, practicing yoga, liberating themselves from stiffness and expectations, and letting their experience of yoga be playful and upbeat! I was hooked!
From that first event, my vision for Yoga UniQue began to expand which had me thinking to myself "How cool would it be if we got to share this experience at Decibel Festival?!" dBFest is a Seattle-based electronic music festival that I've volunteered for over the last two years, built some amazing relationships through, and found an outlet to experience creativity, art, and movement within an intentional group of like-minded rock stars! All it took was for that one question to be asked, a lot of conversations to be had, and fast forward 7 months and here we are! Justus Kovac and I get to provide a way to stay healthy and vital during one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the nation! WOW! We'll be providing two 60-minute Yoga UniQue events during the festival, one inside at Q Nightclub and one outside in a park on Capitol Hill. An even cooler part of these events is that they are only $5 (suggested donation) and all the money will go towards Decibel's Green efforts. Yoga, saving the environment AND kick ass music - what else could you ask for?!
I am extremely honored to be playing such an integritous role with the festival and cannot wait to share my passions with participants who may have never dabbled in yoga outside of a studio or home practice! I am on the journey to create joy and live with full happiness. And my wish for you is to do the same!
